Isa 55:8.......My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the LORD. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
I've been thinking recently about the fact that the reality of a situation can be very different to how we perceive it. This was brought home to me last night when I spent several hours in A&E with my young niece who had managed to cut her foot quite badly on a jam jar. What an awful lot of blood comes from one cut! Looking at the blood pouring from an injury like this, you worry that there might be serious damage. However, in our situation, all that was needed was for the doctor to remove the blood and bandages to reveal a deep cut, about an inch long, that he could easily fix with a bit of 'glue'. Our perceptions of the severity of an injury are easily coloured by the initial surface view of things. The reality can be quite different.
In the lead up to Easter I've been thinking about how different things seem when perceived from an earthly compared to a heavenly perspective. At this time we remember when, on the surface, things seemed at their most bleak, their very worst. However, this was exactly the time at which all of heaven waited to see the light bursting forth and a complete reversal of all that seemed dark and hopeless. The reality was completely different to man's perspective.
Let's not forget that God's view of a situation and His ability to transform it are far beyond our imaginations.
