1 Thessalonians 5 V 17 ‘Rejoice always; pray without ceasing’

In May of 2012 I visited the Western Wall in Jerusalem. This is perhaps better known as the Wailing Wall and this area is open 24 hours a day for anyone to go and pray beside the wall. I followed the age old tradition of writing a prayer and putting it in a crack in the wall. I knew my prayer was asking God for a miracle, it was a very ‘tall order’ and I even took a photo of the prayer I had written before placing my petition in the wall, along with the many other thousands of petitions…..and then I waited. I waited not just for the half hour or so that I was there, but I waited as the days turned into weeks and the weeks turned into months. I prayed that prayer many times in the intervening weeks and months and Praise God, that prayer has been wonderfully answered, and in ways in which I could never have imagined.

Do you have a secret place you go to pray? Do you have secret prayers that are brought before God, for His ears only? It may be the longing for a sick loved one to be healed; it may be for a special friend to find salvation; it may be for a wayward child to return to Christ…..whatever that prayer may be and wherever that prayer is uttered, God sees, God hears and He will answer. I had to wait many years for my prayer to be answered, a cry that had gone up to God a long time before it was put in the cracks of the Wailing Wall, but in His time and in His way, He answered. Take heart, He is a God who answers prayer…pray without ceasing.
