Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4:8
Last week one of my sons jumped upon me, and having wrestled me into submission grabbed me to deliver a bear hug. I look forward to these hugs as much as anything in the world. But this one was different. He had hardly begun to squeeze when he suddenly let go with an "Ouch!"
He nipped off to the kitchen and I followed, to see him removing a hidden box of biscuits from under his jacket.
When we draw near to God we should do our best to make sure that there is nothing that will come between us. And if there is something that makes us uncomfortable we should bring it out before God and ask Him to free us from it.
Failing to find that place of closeness means missing out on some of the best moments of our lives. And as I NOW realise, the Father himself may be left disappointed too.
