He will not let you stumble. He who watches over you will not slumber,

Indeed he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps. Psalm 121

On our Tuesday night meetings we have begun a study on the names of God. Our opening session was very rich and many of us have continued to meditate on the nature and character of God as revealed in His names.

I was struck by the name El Roi - the God who sees - and it drew me to Psalm 121, a song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem. It is encouraging for us to know that as we seek to ascend into God's presence and ultimately to arrive in our heavenly Jerusalem that God sees us every step of the way. His eyes are never shut, he watches over us continually. And his eyes are filled with love, care and encouragement. When we look up to the creator of the heavens, He will not let us stumble as we seek to ascend.

He protects his loved ones. How?  By standing right beside us. Do you feel that you have stumbled? Perhaps your eyes were not looking in the right direction. Lift them now to the One standing beside you and see the One who sees and knows all things and has said that He will never leave you even unto the end of the age.
