On Remembrance Sunday we gather outside our Church at 10.30am to lay a wreath at the war memorial. Traditionally, the oldest member of our congregation who served in World War 2, Mrs Kerr, laid the wreath during the service. She sadly passed away earlier this year and the baton has now been passed to a younger member of our congregation, Matthew Sharkey who served in the Parachute Regiment in both Iraq and Afghanistan. During his active service he saw a number of his comrades pay the ultimate price and it was a particularly poignant moment as he laid the wreath and remembered his own friends.
